Decent sushi. Not my favorite Fort Walton Beach sushi place. Service was okay...took longer for sushi than I would have expected.

Good teppan yaki. The sushi was very good. We enjoyed the chef show. Overall I would say that it was a good value compared to most restaurants with this theme.

This place gets so much attention from some of my friends and if I say anything negative I feel like I will get attacked. Well, as one other reviewer posted...This is no Benihanas! That is what I am used to but maybe Benihanas used MSG and back then I didn't even know what MSG was, LOL. Well, I would give this place a 2.5-star and they are friendly. The food is not too bad. I do not care about the show, just feed me. I took a friend from class here last month and she didn't even eat half her meal. I didn't care that much for mine either but it was lunch and I was hungry. The lunch menu is much better priced than the dinner menu. Another friend who comes all the time, well, they burned their food (new chef) but they are regulars and they keep coming back. I haven't heard anything good from the one in Destin and the other one down the street from this place has been closed down more than I can count for health reasons. I did like that one better though, LOL.

LOVE this restaurant! They always remember me when I come...even let me know when it's been too long! Fantastic lunch "boxes" the teryaki chicken box is $6.99, and you get a ginger salad, that fantastic mushroom broth, two pieces of sushi, vegetable tempora, a dumpling and THEN the chicken and fried rice! Crunchy shrimp rolls are out of this world! Very friendly staff. Great for dine in or take out. Only drawback is that they are open from 11am-2pm for lunch, and then close until dinner.

Ive been looking for some good sushi since I've moved back to FTW and this place is BY FAR, the BEST!! We went in at almost closing but yet the staff was still so friendly and attentive. And the sushi..... OMG!! I consider myself a sushi snob, but they had the freshest and best tasting tuna nigiri I've ever had in my life!!! I wanted something a little different so I got their Japanese burrito, all i can say is....MY NEW FAVE! I can't wait to go back! This place is now my GO TO for all things sushi!!!!

Heard about this place from someone on base. Didn't try the habachi but sushi and kitchen food wasn't the greatest. Service was ok, waitress forgot or drink orders and got our beer about halfway through dinner. Not sure I will try this place again.

So I've been here a few times before and usually have good service for the most part. Came in while I was in town because we were craving sushi and this was the closest place. Greeted and seated...ehhh...not the most friendly of service there? Servers seemed kinda off/rude to us at first. Luckily a friend of ours works here and she came by to say hello and we immediately asked if she could take care of us which she said she would LOL. But I guess all of the servers share tables/tips because we had a few different servers come to our table to drop off food and refill drinks. Drinks and food came out fine, we didn't have to wait obscenely long for it. They did get my friends' sushi order wrong though (one of the rolls were wrong) so they had to wait for that. I ordered the Hawaiian roll and Fujiyama roll. Both were good, I didn't feel that it was terrible like some of the other reviewers said. We did separate checks...they forgot to bring me my check. So I guess I could have walked out and not paid haha, but I told one of the servers when they came back to pick up the checks that I didn't get mine. Ok experience.

The full hibachi experience, which is really nice. Plus I love the family style seating. The chef was really nice and we met some nice people. Its pricey, not really worth is for vegetarians, but it was really nice to get fried rice and noodles. Anyway, all in all, i'd go back, especially because the sushi looked fresh.

3 1/2 stars but my phone doesn't let me do half stars. Let me just start by saying the food was NOT bad and this place WASN'T dirty. I got the chicken teriyaki box which comes with, you guessed it, teriyaki chicken as well as a soup, salad, 4 California rolls, 3 fried wonton type food (gyoza), a few pieces if vegetable tempura and fried rice which was hands down the best part of the combo. The main reason for the lack of stars was that when my wife and I ordered the soup, we didn't know we had the option of choosing miso soup which comes with this type of lunch at almost every other similar restaurant I've ever been to, so I wasn't a big fan of the house soup....get the miso soup. The other minor issue I had was that it ONLY included veggie tempura. Again, most similar restaurants I've been to offer a piece or two of shrimp tempura as well instead of only 3 pieces of veggie.....I like to eat, what can I say!? Like I said, the food was good...not great, but better than average. I just wish I had known about the other substitutions I could've made and wish there was a little better mixture in the combo boxes as that is always what I get at hibachi type restaurants.

This place. Thwy have screwed us over on 3 separate occasions. There is no coming back from this last time. Their service is awful. They are rude. We got here before another group yest they were seated before us and offered menus and we were not. No clue why. Another time we made reservations for valentines day had a confirmation for 6 people we show up and it's a 2 hr wait. These people just can't get it right. It's unfortunate because their food is sometimes tasty. They are so incredibly rude though. Inexcusable. Avoid this place like the plague!!

Our experience here was so bad it is almost comical. We sat at the hibachi side for dinner. Our male chef prepared the food in front of us and while he did, he dropped balls of sweat into our food. I don't know how to adequately address and describe how much swear poured off of him and into our food. It was so disgusting. We were not impressed by the food, decor, atmosphere, or anything. Do not recommend.
(1)Art M.
I ordered the teriyaki beef and the meat was tender. The rice cooked perfectly. The ambience of the place us typical of a family restaurant, but they have a small bar at the corner. Overall quite a good restaurant. Will come here again and try their sushis.
(4)Tanya E.
The food is great. One big problem... I always feel rushed while I eating here. We arrived in time for lunch and apparently, they were about to close. They turned off the lights in all of the areas except our spot, shut off the music and put their coats on to leave.
(3)Tanya S.
I gotta laugh at the reviewers that came here and were expecting "authentic" Japanese food. There is nothing authentic about a teppanyaki (NOT HIBACHI, hibachi is a charcoal grill) restaurant. Either way, this place is quite nice. The decoration inside is reminiscent of the many traditional Japanese restaurants minus the taking off your shoes and the lack of chairs. The place was completely packed when we arrived and our service was prompt and courteous. Our food was nothing special, but it was good nonetheless. The sushi was pretty good... and when I say sushi, I mean Nigiri... I don't know about the rolls. I tried the surf and turf and while expensive, it was great. I had a good experience and will come back.
(4)CJ T.
While pricey, I've always enjoyed the food (generally get the chicken hibachi). I can certainly take or leave the"hibachi experience", though it was fun to see once. I've recently discovered their lunch service, and it's a great deal since you get almost as much food as the dinner but for much less (sometimes as low as a third the dinner price!) And the lunches come with tempura veggies! So as I read the other reviews, on some I wonder if we even ate at the same restaurant. Highly recommended.
(5)Teena F.
Sushi rolls were good; Fresh and nicely rolled. Menu could be improved by having descriptions of each roll available in the same order as the pricing sheet or at least in alphabetical order so you could find what you want to find. Waitresses were attentive and food was served quickly. I would give it five stars for the sushi rolls but only three for the Decor/building/bathrooms so I gave it a four overall rating.
(4)Laura A.
Went here a few months ago for a going away dinner. Food was great, as well as the service. Gratuity is automatically added to your bill. If you want to tip in cash, just let the waitress know ahead of time and they can take that charge off. This was my first time at a Hibachi restaurant. It is a bit pricy, but I would certainly go back!
(5)Taylor F.
I absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I come here quite often and never have been disappointed. Its always busy around dinner time for sushi and hibachi. The girls that work there try their best to be attentive to everyone when their busy. Some of the reviews say they are rude but they aren't really just busy. They always ask us if were doing okay, promptly clear plates and refill drinks. Usually a waitress goes around with a water pitcher frequently. I get thru Okinawa roll which is always made well or the Philly roll. My boyfriend gets the gangster roll which we've both fallen in love with. It is delicious!
(5)Vivienne S.
This place leaves a lot to be desired. Not the best customer service, and the food was just ok. Our salad was pitiful, rice was partially burnt yet undercooked on the other side, and my yellowtail with green onion roll was poorly made with very little fish. It was also insanely hot. Not to mention I watched the table behind us get ignored for some time, and they left. Good for them because they would have wasted their money. We won't be returning.
(1)Deb F.
We arrive at 6:45 on a Sunday night and the place was packed. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have been here and I have never had a bad meal. I usually eat vegetarian but tonight I felt like trying meat so as a flexitarian mostly not meat eater, the meat better be tasty and they did not disappoint. I had the filet mignon hibachi. The others in our foursome had chicken The meals came with noodles and rice and vegetables and a variety hibachi and a lunch box. We also had green tea, The three of us who had the hibachi got to enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day.

So I have been coming to this restaurant for 2 years now and it seems within the past year they have been on a steady decline. The chefs that were here originally were phenomenal and were very entertaining. Those chefs are no longer here and the taste and entertainment has definitely suffered. However, tonight was by far the worst experience I have had here so far. It all went down hill when the chef tried the typical egg toss trick and dropped the egg. After that he was almost quiet with absolutely no tricks or conversation even while there was a 10 year old birthday girl at the table. That's fine with me maybe he is not the most animated chef and no big deal. The issue came when he forgot what people at the table ordered. My wife and myself ordered extra rice that had to come from the back restaurant because he forgot. Next he forgot the shrimp that I had ordered and the chicken that another lady at the table ordered. The food was actually very salty because he drowned it in soy sauce and salt. At this point I was pretty upset but he was able to add more fuel to the fire by over cooking the seafood. There still is one decent chef there but after tonight I will not be returning to Okinawa's.
(2)Dawn B.
The food was delicious! The hibachi chef was lack luster, but still amusing and managed to remain family friendly since there were 2 young children at our table. The wait staff was attentive, and the amount of food you get is well worth the price you pay for the meal. We would definitely return.
(3)Amber K.
I was really hoping for some good Japanese food and the place seemed authentic, but the food lacked flavor. I had the hibachi chicken and my husband had the salmon. Everything seemed like they cooked it too long. The service was a bit slow too.
(3)Jen N.
My husband been stationing here for several years and he had me convinced that it's a decent sushi place. I'm a big time sushi lover so I had to try it out. The food was decent, but the service was horrible. The servers were extremely rude to us. One of them greeted us with "Drinks?" and an attitude. When we asked politely for our food after 40mins of waiting and got an attitude from them. The funny thing was that while one of the ladies were making faces at us we could see it in the mirror. They didn't even bother to ask if everything was ok. When my glass of water went empty and I tried to get their attention they just stared at us and helped other tables. So I gave up and drink my husband's water instead. (I had no prior re-fill). We ate the whole meal without anyone come by to check on us or even walk by. Maybe because of the way we look that they think we wouldn't give them good tip? Because I can tell their attitude with others around us were different. We did give them a 20% tips anyway, but we'll never come back to that place again.

This place was a HUGE disappointment. I would give it zero stars, but had to click on the one star. My daughter's meal, chicken katsu came with raw chicken. I asked for the manager and he never came. So I gave the meal back to the waitress and told her about it. No apology, just took it and walked away. 15 min later, still no food for my daughter so I told her I don't want the meal for her anymore and just shared mine. Come time to pay, I noticed a charge on it that looked like tax but wasn't sure so asked about it. They said that's the automatic gratuity charge that they put. I told them they need to label what the charge is and told them to take my tip off of it since they took it upon themselves to charge us tip. The food was ok. They also messed up my husbands order and gave him different meat. The manager said they will bring out the correct meat at no charge. Come time to pay, they charged it anyways and I had to tell them to take off the charge. Never again will we eat here. Raw chicken, REALLY????

God, I wish I could say I really love this place. I was regular there, it's a good date night place to go. The decor is wannabe Japanese and the staff is a little rude, but no big deal. The food is good. Until my boyfriend and I got really bad food poisoning from them. Twice. The first time we didn't think it was them and then we realized... it was. And I just ate the sushi, so I'm guessing the fish was bad. Watch out, they're not clean.
(2)Karen G.
Choose this place as it had the most reviews and I wanted sushi. I an sorely unimpressed. I had the caterpillar roll, california roll, salmon, yellow tail and tuna. Everything except the salmon was dry, the hot sake and wasabi were tasteless, and for a $40 meal, I wish I had gone elsewhere. Coming from California, I would not recommend this establishment.
(1)Marney C.
The hibachi is fine, but the sushi is a bit boring. The decor is fair. The fish is not as good as Yomatos was.
(3)Monika L.
Made a little stop on the way from Eglin but I probably should have kept going. I was very hungry coming in there as it was 1 pm and I haven't eaten anything that morning. Ordered sashimi lunch box and tofu as my appetizer. Tofu was OK. Lunch box came in with what menu said miso soup and a salad. Miso soup turned out to be broth in a bowl with nothing in it. Salad was drowned in a bit weird tasting dressing. Lunch box itself came with tiny spring roll and a onion ring on one side, two tiny pieces of sushi, tempura veggies, rice and my sashimi. The only thing that was actually good were the two tiny pieces of sushi with asparagus and that made me give them two stars instead of one. Sashimi is always what I look forward to eating and this one definitely wasn't fresh. Being so hungry was not a good adviser and I paid for it the next day.

In true Christmas Story fashion, my family does Japanese for Christmas dinner. For the last five or six years, we've watched the crowd grow bigger and bigger for holiday hibachi, and the food remains consistently good. The sushi and hibachi are both great at Okinawa, though the service sometimes falters. Tonight was no different. My mom and I split a Soft Shell Crab Roll and a Scallop Hibachi Entree and, as our sushi came out and the chef began regaling us with silly jokes and Santa hats, I realized I still hadn't received my wine. Sheesh. But I'm willing to let the service slide here and there because we really do enjoy the food and atmosphere at Okinawa. They also serve great lunch here at the regular tables. The best part of eating here? Free ice cream with your fortune cookie at the end! See you again next year, Okinawa.
(4)Lyn M.
I LOVE this restaurant for their high-quality sushi. I don't think i'll ever do the hibachi (chef and grill theatrics), and i'm sure it's great and delicious, but my love for this place is for their fantastic sashimi and their very inventive and delicious rolls. I definitely recommend the Crispy Alaska roll (or something similar, it's up on their dry-erase boards) and whichever roll has "The Real Fire!" both very YUM-worthy! If you enjoy good quality sushi in a location that has a very decorative and quaint japanese feel (the waitresses were cute in their kimonos, and greeting "Irrashai!"), OR you enjoy the fun flips and chops and flames of the hibachi, this place is for you!
(4)Geoff G.
The steamed gyoza saved you from two stars. Chicken teriyaki was dry and WAAYY too sweet, drenched in their special brown sauce. My buddies seafood tempura looked good buy he wasn't sharing.
(3)Fish B.
Very good stuff! The fish was fresh. The oops roll was yummy. I will be back!
(4)Jennifer S.
Wonderful place to eat the food is great and the staff friendly i will be a regular
(5)M B.
To put it simply, the food was great until it was coming out the other end two hours later. I wouldn't recommend going here.
(2)Samuel F.
Lunch or dinner, this place is probably the most consistent restaurant in town. I've enjoyed both menus and in all my dining experiences here, I think I've managed to try everything on the menu. The sushi made right in front of us is always awesome. Now that I'm writing about this, I'm really hungry for sushi!
(4)Christian B.
Came here last night for dinner with the husband. It's been a long time since I've had some Japanese food so I was excited when we came in tonight. The place is nicer inside than what I had expected. I got the dinner special...I ordered beef teriyaki which comes with a crunch roll. Came was a chicken teriyaki, and what I call a Panko roll! Thr roll seems like leftover Panko and just a little shrimp. I won't be coming back anytime soon, even for the Hibachi..the prices on their Hibachi menu compares to Benihana..and this place is no Benihana!
(2)Blenthony M.
My 2nd time coming here and each time the food has been good enough to satisfy my japanese craving. It's hard to find good Asian food around here. It is a little more pricey than what i am used to paying back home but when I walked away, I was satisfied. I am not a fan for teppanyaki so I always sat at the sushi bar area. They actually use sticky rice here and I can tell it is of good quality. I dislike Japanese restaurants that you can't pick up the rice with the chopsticks bc it's not the sticky rice. The service was quick and polite. I would go back here when I am back in this neck of the country. Only dinner place here that I felt was worthy of getting 4 stars. Good way to end my stay here!
(4)Kurt N.
Okinawa's is your typical teppanyaki steak house. I've only been here once for the flashy theatrics and I wasn't all that impressed. To give them credit, I'm usually never impressd at teppanyaki restaurants. I don't care if they make a flamming volcano or can slice a raw egg in half while doing a back flip or whatever; I just want good food. And like most teppanyaki places, the food isn't all that great. Their sushi is OK but I suggest Harbor Docks if you really want good sushi. Their waitresses all dress up in kimono's and speak with Asian accents. I don't know if that's fake or real, but I should probably be offended on some level being Japanese myself. I think they just try too hard and miss the mark.
(3)Derick B.
This place was a pretty good hibachi. The show was a little better than average and the food was excellent, very generous portions compared to most hibachi's. I would definitly go again.
(4)Nancy T.
Christmas eve the place was packed. Sushi was excellent. Hibachi dinner was excactly what we wanted. Traditional hibachi Japananse steak house. Enjoy.
(4)Mar D.
My favorite place in town. I've gone both during lunch & dinner (the latter of which we almost always do at the hibachi grill) and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Lunch time gets a fair amount of military members from the bases so it gets pretty busy. Their ginger dressing and yumi-yumi sauce is so good.
(4)Soo U.
the staff are always polite and nice the food is ok you get what you pay for
(3)Izabella M.
Clear soup... It actually comes in four flavours including celery, mushroom, onion and soy. So named because they are mainly broth with heavy garnish of the flavour of the bowl. Inexpensive, great answer if you are just wanting something light or healthy. Hibachi is tasty recommend going with mignon if you have beef, much more tender and good size portions as well.
